Dancehall Icon Sean Paul has released a “Bring It” on a rework of the classic Showtime Riddim this month. Dutty Rock Productions, the music label owned by the Grammy award-winning artist announced that the new single is a fresh take on the beloved dancehall Riddim. Through this latest single, Sean Paul brings a modern twist to the iconic beat from 1997 that has captivated audiences for decades.
The Showtime Riddim, originally crafted by the legendary Dave Kelly, has stood the test of time, highlighted in a recent Rolling Stone article as one of the “25 Riddims That Defined Jamaican Music”. Known for hits that defined the 90s and beyond such as “Bashment Party” by Shaggy and Rayvon, and Spragga Benz’s “We No Like,” the riddim continues to resonate with fans worldwide.
In a 2022 interview with Vibe Magazine, Sean Paul expressed his admiration for the Showtime Riddim, citing it as a standout beat he wished he could have voiced when it was first made. Fast forward to 2024, and Sean Paul’s wish has become a reality with the release of “Bring It,” a track that pays homage to the golden era of 90s dancehall.
