The nominees for the 2025 edition of the Trace Awards were announced ahead of the awards ceremony in Zanzibar on February 26.

The Trace Awards celebrate the diversity and excellence of Afro music across various genres, including Afrobeat, dancehall, hip-hop, and more. Artists from over 30 countries are competing in 24 categories.
Leading the nominations are South Africa’s Tyla and Tyler ICU, Nigeria’s Asake and Rema, and Burna Boy. The Song of the Year category features hits like Tyla’s ‘Jump’, Tyler ICU’s ‘Mnike’, Asake & Travis Scott’s ‘Active’, Tems’ ‘Love Me Jeje’, Burna Boy’s ‘Higher’, Rema and Shallipopi’s ‘Benin Boys’, and Diamond Platnumz’s ‘Komasawa’.
In the Album of the Year category, Nigeria stands out with Burna Boy’s I Told Them, Asake’s Lungu Boy, and Rema’s Heis. Ghana’s Amaarae, King Promise, and Stonebwoy, along with Ivory Coast’s Josey and Togo’s Toofan, are also notable contenders.
