Afropop sensation, Oxlade returns with a captivating double release, ‘Katigori’ (Category) and ‘Piano’. The former is an uplifting Afrobeats anthem that conveys Oxlade’s aspirations and determination to achieve greatness. Whilst the other is a mesmerising Amapiano love song, guaranteed to set dance floors ablaze with its infectious rhythms.
Produced by hitmaker Timmy, ‘Katigori’ stands as a resounding testament to Oxlade’s exceptional talent and unwavering ambition, with its striking beats, enchanting background violins, and an irresistible hook, this track serves as an extraordinary personal anthem like no other. ‘Piano’, masterfully produced by the exceptional hit producer P-Prime, is a heartfelt love song that blends the soft hits of a log-drum, piano and drums with Oxlade’s signature falsetto and ad-libs to create a surefire hit.
When asked about the origin of this amazing release, Oxlade shares, “Katigori is a three-year-old record, it was created in a space where I had fame but not success. It was me manifesting where I am now and prophesying my future because I feel like there’s a moment in my music career where everybody will accept that I’m the GOAT. On the other hand, Piano is a result of all my fast-paced records that didn’t get the blessings they deserved. Now that I have the audience and numbers, I want to show everyone the fast, club side of Oxlade. Piano is the strongest song I’ve dropped this year MUSICALLY. I want everyone to have 2 sides of the coin, the cautious Oxlade and the party Oxlade. Piano is a love song, Katigori is a statement piece, letting them know that we’re not mates.”
Oxlade has been a force to be reckoned with in the music industry, dominating charts and world stages alike. From his all-star collaboration with Usher at Global Citizen Festival in Ghana to his performance alongside Wizkid at the Accor Arena in France, Oxlade has proven that he is a global superstar. His hit song “Ku Lo Sa” has been certified double platinum in Switzerland, platinum in Canada, France, and Germany, and was named the #5 top song of 2022 by Complex and the #2 best afro pop song of 2022 by Rolling Stone.
Oxlade’s accolades continue to pile up, with a recent sweep of five nominations at The Headies Awards show, including categories like Viewer’s Choice and Best Vocal Performance, in addition to a Billboard nomination for the Top Afrobeats Song. This double release is a tip of the iceberg on what to expect on his forthcoming album,
“Oxlade From Africa”.
