Emerging Nigerian artist Sandave, born Oluwasaanu Sogo, has released his debut EP, “LION OF AFRICA VOL 1.” The project chronicles his journey from a local talent in Akure to a rising star in Lagos.
Sandave’s move to Lagos in 2020 marked a turning point, allowing him to blend his musical passion with a burgeoning modeling career. “LION OF AFRICA VOL 1” reflects his resilience, ambition, and self-discovery.
The EP’s standout track, Eeya, is one of Sandave’s most heartfelt pieces, written during a low point in his life. Drawing strength from the words of his mother, “Eeya” expresses the power that comes with determination. Another key track, “Energy”, produced by Magicsticks in 2021, touches on love and dedication inspired by a past relationship.
Each song on the EP carries its unique story, yet they’re unified by Sandave’s distinctive Afrocentric sound and style. In Paris, he envisions future success with close friends, celebrating the dream of exploring cities rich in culture like Paris and Ecuador. Meanwhile, “Higher”, created in just one hour, captures a moment of self-motivation and features celebrated artists Ice Prince and Ugandan vocalist Joshua Baraka.
Rounding out the EP are tracks like “I Know”, recorded during a celebratory gathering and imbued with African dance vibes by producer Wiikedest, and “Jaiye”, a tribute to Yoruba heritage, and the joyous spirit of Dr. Ebenezer Obey.
“LION OF AFRICA VOL 1” showcases Sandave’s distinctive Afrocentric sound and his ability to craft relatable music.
