Nigerian singer and producer Raytheboffin kicks off 2025 with a bang, teaming up with Abuja natives Suté Iwar and Sinachi to deliver a seductive Afro-fusion anthem, cold summer.
Rooted in light synths and delicate drum patterns, cold summer is a testament to Raytheboffin’s distinctive production style. The track captures themes of pursuit and desire, making it a perfect soundtrack for romantics as we build towards Valentine’s Day. Suté Iwar and Sinachi complement Ray’s emotive soundscapes with heartfelt lyricism and smooth delivery, creating a sensual, immersive listening experience.
Drawing inspiration from indie and shoegaze (à la Blink-182) as well as the forward thinking approach of alté icons Cruel Santino and Odunsi The Engine, cold summer reflects Raytheboffin’s genre-defying approach.
Commenting on the record, Raytheboffin says; “‘cold summer’ ” is about that feeling of missing someone who means everything to you. It’s like, no matter how warm it gets, it feels cold without them. All you want is to bridge that distance and just talk about ‘us.”
The single follows his late 2024 release, offering (featuring July Drama), which has garnered well over 100k streams and earned support from platforms such as AQT Entertainment, WeTalkSound, AlbumTalksHQ, The 49th Street, and The Upper Entertainment.
cold summer offers another glimpse into Raytheboffin’s forthcoming album, you make me feel. Set to release under Outer South, the project promises to push Afro-fusion into uncharted territory, showcasing Ray’s artistic evolution and cementing his status as one of the most innovative voices in contemporary African music.
