Alpha P, born Princewill Emmanuel, is a striking blend of raw talent and matured artistry that belies his youth. At just 17, Alpha P had already begun carving out a unique space in the Nigerian music landscape, driven by a relentless passion that took root in the streets of Benin City, Edo State. The fourth child in a family of seven, Alpha P’s musical journey began not in a choir or a family steeped in musical tradition, but in the vibrant atmosphere of a Christ Embassy church, where he started crafting gospel bars as a youngster. His journey from Benin to Lagos is a testament to his unyielding drive, and it’s this drive that led him to be one of the latest prodigies signed by Penthauze, the Afrobeats powerhouse led by the iconic Phyno.
Alpha P’s music is a dynamic fusion of influences ranging from the hard-hitting bars of J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar to the melodic flows of Drake and PartyNextDoor, with a nod to Nigerian legends like M.I. Despite his international influences, Alpha P’s sound is deeply rooted in the rhythms and cadences of Afrobeats, yet it remains strikingly innovative, pushing the boundaries of the genre. His debut EP, “King of the Wolves,” released in November of 2019, is a reflection of his eclectic tastes and artistic maturity, showcasing his ability to weave together diverse sonic elements into a cohesive, compelling narrative.
In 2020, Alpha P followed up with his second project, Wolves & Mustang Vol. 1. He has since collaborated on several tracks, including DJ Tunez’s hit “Majo,” which also features Afrobeats Super heavyweight Wizkid and Nigerian RnB Sensation Tay Iwar.
Looking ahead, Alpha P is set to release his third body of work, Welcome to the Pack, in early September. The EP is highly anticipated and expected to solidify his position as one of Afrobeats’ most exciting talents. As Alpha P continues to evolve, his affiliation with Phyno & Penthauze Music, is poised to propel his career to new heights.
