Why the name ‘KKEDA’?
KKEDA is a short, stylized version of my real name, Rikkeda. It reflects who I am at my core: creative, intuitive, and grounded in harmony’s and rhythm.
Who’s the woman behind KKEDA?
An Afro-Caribbean fairy deeply connected to her roots, blending cultures, stories, and soul into everything she creates. She’s earthy, ethereal, and expressive soft yet powerful, always channeling real emotion through her art and everything else she does.
What inspired you to start making music?
Honestly, music just felt natural. I grew up around a lot of sound, Ghanaian and Jamaican classics, riddims, highlife and stories. It was how I processed things, how I expressed myself when I couldn’t find the right words. It started as a way to let things out, and over time, it turned into something I really wanted to share with people.
Can you remember where you were when you first recorded your first record?
Yeah, I was in Ghana—I was just about 5/6 years old. My uncle had a studio at home; he was a big producer back then. I remember recording a Mother’s Day song.
What would you call your style of music?
I’d say it’s Afrofusion, I blend Afro influences with a bit of dancehall, R&B, pop and soul.
Aside from music, what else does KKEDA do for fun?
Aside from music, I love taking pictures and designing clothes.
If you could change one thing about your childhood, what would that be?
If I could change one thing about my childhood? Honestly, nothing. Every experience shaped me, and I’m grateful it made me who I am today.

Ghana, Jamaica, or London, pick one?
I love all three Ghana is home Jamaica is my spice and London is a vibe. Each one gave me something unique that shaped my vibe and sound.
Let’s talk about your forthcoming project — Do we have a date yet and how many songs are on the project?
The project’s coming soon! No exact date yet, but it’s packed with vibes. It’s a rollercoaster hope you’re ready for the ride!
What song on the project was the easiest to make, and what was the whole process like?
“Love Away” was the easiest to make because my super talented friend Luana was there writing with me. She really understood the story, and our energies just clicked perfectly.
Are there any collaborations on the project?
For my first project, I wanted it to be just me. I still deeply value my producer, writers, and those who added vocals but there aren’t any official features. I wanted the story to come straight from me.
What are your personal favorite songs off the project?
Hard one, but I’d say my personal favorites shift with my mood. One of my most played is a song called “Sadness,” for sure. It’s about releasing, forgetting, and finally saying goodbye to sadness. It holds a special place in my heart.
This forthcoming project is set to be your official debut project, yeah?
So, what should your fans be expecting before the project? Any collabs? Single?
Yes, this is my official debut project! Before it drops, fans can expect at least 2 singles to set the tone no big collabs, just more of me, raw and real. Think of it as a little warm-up before the full story unfolds.
What inspired the theme or concept of this project?
The theme was inspired by real emotions I’ve carried, released, and grown through. It’s about letting go, finding softness in the chaos, and embracing every version of myself. Each song reflects a piece of that journey raw, personal, and honest. Toxic bloom.
How do you feel this project differs from your previous work?
You can really hear my growth as an artist in this project sonically, emotionally, and creatively. It’s the most honest and refined version of me so far.
What message or feeling do you hope listeners take away from this project?
I want listeners to feel seen and understood to know it’s okay to feel all the emotions, let go of pain, stand up for yourself, and keep moving forward. The project is about healing, growth, and finding strength in vulnerability. And also to let them into my gardzen into my world.
Are there any upcoming performances or tours related to this project?
Not for right now but I know a lot is currently in the works and you’re going to be seeing more of me with the release of this project.
Favorite artist you’ve collaborated with?
My favorite artist I’ve collaborated with is my good sis Moliy she’s doing amazing right now, and working with her was a great experience.
