MODIH Returns with Debut EP “MODIH-FIED Vol. 1”

Nigerian-born Afropop artiste MODIH has released his debut extended play, MODIH-FIED Vol. 1, a six-track project now streaming across all digital platforms. The EP stands as both an introduction and a comeback, arriving after a two-year break during which the artiste refined his sound, redefined his identity, and prepared to step back into the spotlight.

Before adopting the name MODIH, he was known as Meeky, a performer celebrated for raw energy and street-inspired grit. His decision to step away from music allowed him to reflect and rebuild, shaping a more intentional creative direction. The result is MODIH-FIED Vol. 1, a project that presents not only a change in name but also a deeper level of artistry. It represents resilience, rootedness in Lagos culture, and a renewed commitment to telling his truth through music.

The EP features six songs: Groove, No Place Like Lagos, ILYD (I Love Yansh Die), Bad Boy From Nigeria, 2AM, and Midlife Crisis. Each track reveals a unique facet of MODIH’s artistry, combining rhythm and reflection with his signature storytelling. Every song was written by MODIH, with 2AM co-written by Gostav. Production comes from Shi Boi on the first four tracks and Ebvbe on the final two, while the artwork and design were created by Jeje gfx, ensuring the visuals align with the music’s bold spirit.

A few days before the official release, he held an intimate listening party in Lagos. Friends, family, and industry peers, including pop star TClassic, gathered to experience the project ahead of time. The evening was marked by warmth, conversation, and enthusiastic reactions. Guests highlighted the honesty and vibrancy of the songs, affirming his evolution and building anticipation for the EP’s official rollout.

Speaking on his debut, MODIH explained: “This EP is my rebirth as an artist. Each song carries part of my story, my dreams, and my struggles. The support I felt at the listening party confirmed for me that this music connects, and I am proud to finally share it with the world.”

Thematically, MODIH-FIED Vol. 1 strikes a balance between social commentary and entertainment. No Place Like Lagos captures the unfiltered reality of the city, Midlife Crisis reflects on resilience and survival, while lighter tracks like Groove and ILYD add moments of celebration and playfulness. Together, they create a well-rounded introduction that positions MODIH as a versatile artiste with both depth and charisma.

MODIH-FIED Vol. 1 is available now on Spotify, Apple Music, Audiomack, Boomplay, and YouTube.
